Create a Reusable List of Tasks.
About This Article
Learn to create a reusable task list and quickly add them to your events with event types or selectively from an event's slide-out. For more on creating and understanding tasks, read Tasks - Getting Started.
Get to the Point
- Create the reusable task list in the Settings
- Add to events with Event Types or in an event's Slide-out
- A closed padlock icon means the tasks are only visible to your group. An open padlock will include them in the tasks tab of an event.
Contents
Creating a Task Template
To start, click Settings in your Group then under Tasks, click Task Templates.
Click Create in the upper right.
Name your list and start adding tasks like you normally would—detailed in Getting Started With Tasks.
Opening the Padlock
If you click a locked padlock, it opens. Tasks with opened padlocks will be added to the event's Tasks list and thus will be visible to everyone with access to the event.
This makes the most sense within the event's slide-out. The padlock near the top indicates that the slide-out's content may only be viewed by the group shown in bold.
So while locked, the padlock indicates that the task matches that privacy rule. Clicking the padlock will unlock it, indicating that the task is now visible in the event's Tasks tab.
Tips
- You may open the padlock of tasks within the slide-out without modifying the template.
- Modifying the template won't affect the tasks already applied to events.
- The padlock doesn't affect one's ability to edit the task.
The tasks in the image above would look like this in the event's Tasks tab.
Adding Task Templates to Events
Task templates are only added to events in the event's slide-out or as part of an event type.
Via an Event's Slide-out
To start, open the event's slide-out either from your group dashboard or from within the event. In the rail on the left of the slide-out, click Tasks.
Add a template from the Add Template dropdown in the upper right.
Via an Event Type
You can add a task template to an event type when creating a task template or editing one in Settings > Tasks > Task Template.
At the top of the template's settings page, click Add.
Or add a task template to an event type directly in Settings > Templates > Event Types.
Select the event type you'd like to add the task to, then slide open Task Template List and click Add.
Now whenever you add that Event Type to an event, the Task Template will be added automatically.
